Please plan on joining us as we honor our 2014 Maritime Man of the Year, Captain Paul Costabile, Executive Director, Northeast Pilots Association. Paul served as our President for three years and is a well known and respected proponent of maritime issues throughout New England. Paul will be presented with this prestigious award by Captain Verne B. Gifford, Chief of Staff, First Coast Guard District, Boston, MA and last year’s recipient.

 

In addition we will be celebrating National Maritime Day. National Maritime Day is a United States holiday created to recognize the maritime industry. It is observed on May 22, the date in 1819 that the American steamship Savannah set sail from Savannah, Georgia on the first ever transoceanic voyage under steam power. The holiday was created by the Unites States Congress on May 20, 1933.
